Terms and Conditions
The terms for using iBudge, on the free plan and with a premium subscription.
The short version
- The free plan is free forever, with no credit card needed.
- Premium is £1.79 a month or £17.90 a year. It renews until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time.
- iBudge is a budgeting tool, not financial advice. Its results are only as good as the figures you enter.
- Your budget is yours. We only use it to run iBudge for you.
- Keep your password safe, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
This summary is here to help. The full terms below are what apply.
1. About these terms
iBudge is provided by Affirmable Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14461956). Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Affirmable Limited, and "you" means the person using iBudge.
These terms apply to ibudge.com, the iBudge web app and our Android and iOS apps (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
2. The service
iBudge helps you plan and manage your personal finances. You add your income and expenditure, savings pots, bank accounts, credit cards and loans, and iBudge works out your balance, tracks your pots and guides you through each payday with Payday Powerup. Premium adds further features, such as scenario planning, stocks and shares, pensions, property and mortgages, Bonus LevelUp, the import wizard and enhanced reports. What each plan includes is set out on our compare features and pricing pages.
iBudge doesn't connect to your bank, and we never ask for your online banking details. The figures in iBudge are the ones you enter or import yourself.
3. Not financial advice
- iBudge is a budgeting tool. It doesn't give financial, investment, tax, pension or mortgage advice, and nothing in the service or on our website is a recommendation to buy, sell or borrow anything.
- Its calculations, reports and suggestions are based on the figures you enter, so check them before you rely on them. You make your own decisions about your money.
- For advice about your circumstances, speak to a qualified adviser. Free, impartial guidance is available from MoneyHelper.
4. Accounts
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- You must give accurate details and keep them up to date. We'll ask you to confirm your email address.
- Keep your password safe, and don't share it. You're responsible for activity on your account unless it happens because of our failure. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- An account is for one person. You may not sell, transfer or share it.
5. Premium subscriptions
- Premium costs £1.79 a month or £17.90 a year. Prices are in pounds sterling, include VAT and are shown before you pay.
- Your subscription starts when your first payment goes through, and renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. Each renewal is charged to the payment method you used.
- On the web, payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details never reach our servers, and Stripe's own terms also apply to payments.
- In our apps, you can subscribe through the app store instead, for example Google Play. The store takes the payment, and its terms apply to it.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it affects you, and you can cancel before then.
6. Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel at any time. On the web, manage or cancel your subscription from the premium page in your account. If you subscribed through an app store, cancel it in that store. Your premium features continue until the end of the period you've already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
- Your 14-day right to cancel: you can cancel a new subscription within 14 days of first subscribing and get a refund. Because premium starts straight away at your request, we may deduct an amount for the days you've already used.
- Apart from that, and wherever the law requires otherwise, we don't refund part of a month or year.
- If something's wrong with the service, contact us and we'll put it right or refund you, as the law requires.
7. If premium ends
If your subscription ends, your account moves to the free plan. Everything you've added stays in your account, but you won't be able to use the premium features until you subscribe again.
8. Your data
- The figures and details you put into iBudge are yours. We don't claim any ownership of them.
- You give us permission to store and process them only as needed to provide the service to you, including through the service providers described in our Privacy Policy. This ends when you delete them or your account, apart from copies left in backups until they are replaced.
- We never sell your data, and we don't use your budget for advertising.
- Only import statements and information you're entitled to use.
- We take care to keep your data safe, but please keep your own records of anything important.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we can use them to improve the service without any obligation to you.
9. Acceptable use
You must not use the service, or let anyone else use it, to:
- break any law, or store anything illegal or that infringes anyone's rights;
- upload malware, or content designed to run harmful code;
- try to access accounts or data you aren't permitted to see, or test, scan or get around our security without our written permission;
- overload or disrupt the service, for example with automated requests or scraping;
- copy or resell the service, or provide it to others as a business;
- reverse engineer or decompile the service, except where the law allows it.
10. Third-party services
Some parts of the service depend on other companies, including Stripe and the app stores for payments, and Amazon Web Services for hosting and email. We aren't responsible for their availability, or for changes they make that affect a feature. If a third party withdraws or changes a service, we may change or remove the related feature.
11. Our intellectual property
We, or our licensors, own the service, including its software, text, design and the iBudge name and logo. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own personal finances under these terms.
12. Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the service available and your data safe, but we can't guarantee it will never be interrupted. Planned maintenance, problems with suppliers or the internet, and events outside our control can interrupt it. We improve the service all the time and may add, change or remove features. If we remove a premium feature, we'll tell you, and you can cancel.
13. Suspension and closing accounts
- By you: you can stop using the service at any time, and delete your account from My account. Cancel any premium subscription first, so you aren't charged again.
- By us: we may suspend or close an account if it seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or if the law requires us to. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. We may also end the service for everyone with at least 60 days' notice, and we'll refund any premium you've paid for beyond that date.
14. Our responsibility to you
- You have legal rights that these terms don't affect, including the right to a service provided with reasonable care and skill.
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
- Because iBudge doesn't give financial advice, we aren't responsible for decisions you make about your money, or for losses caused by figures that were wrong or out of date when you entered them.
- The service is for personal use, so we aren't responsible for business losses, such as lost profit or business opportunity, or for events beyond our reasonable control.
15. General
- Changes to these terms: we may update these terms. For material changes, we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect.
- Transfer: we may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, for example if the business is sold, as long as your rights aren't reduced.
- Notices: we'll contact you at the email address on your account. You can contact us using the details in section 16.
- Severability and waiver: if any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Third-party rights: no one else has rights under these terms.
- Law and courts: these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring legal proceedings there as well as in England.
